I just saw what looked like an military hummer.

There is this small used car place I pass nearly every day. Over the past few years I have seen some interesting stuff come through that place. Early on it looked like their biggest sellers were big lawn mowers, but over the years the business found it's niche. They started selling very nice cars. One time they had three to four hummers and three to four BMW's with a Lexus on the side, and that was probably a fourth of their inventory with the rest being just regular nice cars an middle class person could afford.

Today I drove by and they had a hummer that looked like the military just sold it as surplus, it had the camo and extended tell pipe. If it is reasonably priced, you should consider it for you SHTF vehicle. I think I am going to ask how much it is.

UPDATE:
It was 34 thousand dollars. It had light armour doors (kevlar), light bullet proof glass, a turret, it was a slant back version, and it had a river forging kit. Though the guy said that he would get the engine sealed better if he was going to do that, because the bow wave in front of the vehicle can come over the hood. Apparently the guy who I talked to deals with these type of vehicles often. He had a couple in the 20's (probably high twenties).

Let us know how much it is...
Everyone can use a hummer.

I am in the army and would not recommend a military hummer to anyone. Besides the obvious setbacks (no radio, no a/c, no locks, terrible gas mileage), there are other specific problems. Notably, the interior is barren. They don't have keys. Anyone can start one by turning an ignition switch. And they constantly break down. You are looking at sinking a considerable amount of money into a vehicle that has a high probability of dying on the road or getting stolen.

"Anyone can start one by turning an ignition switch."

Yea that really surprised me. I think that problem could be solved by use of the club.

"And they constantly break down."

I would know what it takes to keep one of those things running when it is driven responsibly.

If i remember correctly you were taught how to drive one when they said "Go ahead, drive it. You cannot break it, it is a hummer."

Over all I think that they would make surerior zombie invasion vehicles .

They break down far more often than any vehicle I have ever been in. The main advantage as a zombie invasion vehicle would be that they could easily be modified for combat purposes. It's hard to find a good armor kit and remotely operated weapon system for a Toyota Tacoma.

I am an auto mechanic in the USAF. HMMWV's are garbage. I hate them and I am glad I am cross training into a different career field. I never want to see one or ride in one ever again if I don't have to.

That is really disappointing. Although I don't disbelive sandcastle, i was hopping for information that would confirm what i had hoped for
