When you read the word torture, what actions come to mind?

I will update this post tomorrow with my thoughts and feelings on the word torture.

I think all good torture should involve some form of electric shock and some form of mutilation. If you are tortured there should be some sort of lasting reminder and indisputable physicial and psychological proof. Otherwise the torturer isn't really doing a good job.

I think of Rambo. You know, when they tied him to the springs and then hooked up the battery. That is the first thing that came to my mind.

Pain

Actually I should ammend my previous post. 'Pain' is the first word that comes to mind. The first image that comes to mind is of a person tied to a chair and being beaten while a single light swings overhead. Actions? Hmm...beating, cutting, binding, depriving, electrocuting, drowning, burning...

I would really enjoy a job torturing people for information. Especially if I was able to make myself believe that they were evil, and therefore deserving. I think that is the trick.

Being skinned alive, being boiled alive, being burned alive and crucifixion come to mind. Anything that should cause death, but doesn't.
