Space signal studied for alien contact

This signal is either aliens, an unknown astronomical phenomenon, or a by-product of the telescope. We can rule out the last one quickly, the first two are ones that we can't rule out quickly.

What is interesting is that the signal was found, "through the SETI+home project, which uses programs running as screensavers on millions of personal computers worldwide to sift through the huge amount of data picked up by the telescope."

In other words, we were looking for an needle in an hay stack, and we found what we were looking for.
